Dynasty Warriors 6 was pretty and had some innovative ideas, but Dynasty Warriors 7 was successful in executing those changes.

People often complain about this series because, "it's always the same." I have to disagree with that sentiment. It may constantly be the same universe and story line, but the same can be said about every Madden, every Call of Duty, every Halo, every Assassin's Creed, and every other franchise.

Let's go over some of the changes in Dynasty Warriors 7:

1. Character Design - I like the designs, Huang Gai's hot pants = yes please! Sure there are some I don't like, (Zhao Yun for instance) and some sort of don't make sense (Bao Sanniang), I enjoy the majority.

2. New Characters - I loved Bao Sanniang, I don't care what anyone says. Cai Wenji I wish I could get more of a history for, The Jin Dyansty in general was fascinating and fun to learn about, and many others of the additions I liked after I played them.

3. Story Setup - A lot of people didn't like the idea of not controlling a character throughout the story modes, I actually enjoyed this aspect. It forced me to play as characters I never would have before.

4.Conquest Mode - I'm half and half with this, I loved the concept, but as soon as I beat conquest mode I felt kind of uninspired to do more. I conquered everything at that point. I would be fine to keep it if there was some sort of randomized fight option, so there was still some exiting element when you've played it all.

I will continue to support Dynasty Warriors as I love the characters and the music, and the gameplay. My only complaints were, when you were done, you were done, any additional play time felt somewhat uninspired. And I hated some of the voices because they didn't seem to fit the character design or what I wanted them to sound like in my head.
Game needs more Steve Blum <3

Now all I need a new Warriors Orochi and Samurai Warriors IN THE US!! Stope releasing these in Asia only, it sucks for the rest of us that DO love you D:

Sucker Punch Impression (not so much a review)

Sucker Punch is a very intricate story about a young woman thrown into a horrible situation, who copes by stealing away into her mind. This is a very vague and raw explanation of the plot, I could go into more detail, but I'll leave it at that for now.

The basic concept of this is very appealing and not often touched by cinema. Most places tend to write off movies that involve dreamstates, simply because they feel it's cheating or cliche. The problem is however, that although it can be used that way, dreams are so universal and yet so completely different that I feel that it's entirely worth investigating within the visual medium. With the recent success of Inception, I wouldn't be surprised if more movies based on the ideas of dreams cropped up.

Having been one to experience very vivid dreams, both good and bad, I was excited to see this film. The blatant over sexualized appeal of girls fishnets and tiny skirts doesn't bother me personally, so I wasn't turned off by that either. Overall, visually, I found the movie to be interesting, beautiful at times, with great uses of color palettes to reflect areas.

Another great thing about the movie is the soundtrack. I feel that the music in the film lead to much of the reactions to the scenes. Bjork's Army of Me, is fantastic, and to hear it prior to a battle was very much a dream come true. In fact, I bought the soundtrack almost immediately after hearing it.

But although the game was pretty, the music was great, and the premise was exciting, I felt disappointed after the film. There are some pretty dark implications to what is going on in the story when they're at the 'brothel'. The film obviously states that Emily Brownings character is 20, but the "Babydoll" character looks much younger than that. So the constant push to make her sexy came out slightly awkward. I also can't help but notice that this is the 3rd Zack Snyder movie where female characters are more empowered due to some form of abuse or trauma. 300 and Watchmen are not his stories, however SuckerPunch is primarily his. Why does a woman have to be pushed to that point? I've never had a movie make me feel so feminist before. It's not the sexualization, it's just the idea that for us to be anything we have to suffer traumatizing situations and then 'steal away' from them so that we are able to cope with them. In fact Zack Snyder is not the only one at fault with this, which is why I'm so upset with this film. I was hoping for something more than that, the story isn't actually that bad, but I was hoping it would cast a different light on female fronted action films.

There are profound moments in the film though, despite my dislike of what could have been, and one of them is Jena Malone. I am a fan of Jena Malone, her roles are always interesting, and her personality is vibrant. She was my favorte moments in this film. The delicate innocense and kindness that Sweet Pea and Babydoll wanted to protect. Every other character gained life when she was on screen, when she wasn't I suddenly lost interest.

Without going into spoilers I do understand that this film is much deeper than it looks, maybe it was intentional, maybe not. Maybe the subtley is there for people to come to their own conclusions and maybe it's subtle because Snyder and his co-scripter had no idea what they wanted to do. It can be argued either way.

Which is why I find myself not hating the film, but not loving this film. I wanted more from it than what I got, which is my own fault, but at the same time, what I wanted doesn't seem like a bad thing to want. I honestly think this movie would have been better if they focus on either asylum + fight scenes, or all fantasy. The multiple levels of escape in her mind made the brothel analogy really seem pointless in the scheme of story set up. I doubt there will be a sequel, and I in no way regret seeing it. I will also probably buy it and support it's merchandising, for if anything, recognition for more movies with female leads. I just hope next time we can be powerful without all the drama, rape, abuse, and trauma.

My Review of Alan Wake

When I first heard of Alan Wake 5 years ago, I was hooked. A game located in the Pacific Northwest that is creepy and about a writer? I dig it.

So general gist of the game (generally spoiler free): A guy has a writers block, his loving wife tries to help him by taking him to a small town with hopes to persuade him to see a doctor that 'specializes' in art therapy. They have a fight, she goes missing and he wakes up a week later.

There is a lot going on here. This game isn't made to make you scared like Silent Hill, it's to make you afraid. There is a difference, believe me. When I play this game, things don't jump out at you and surprise you. The enemies are creepy monsters, they're human beings overtaken by a shadow, so they look more like shapes at first and then are revealed as human. How the scare tactic works is the game mostly takes place in the forest, I found myself second guessing often when I saw a tree, because I thought it was a shadowy figure. The game uses shadows to play with your head, that is by far scarier, because this can transfer over into real life.

The battle system flowed real well. 'Light' is your main weapon, with side arms of pistols, shotguns, and hunting rifles. (I categorize the flashbangs, flares, and flareguns in the 'light' category). I really enjoyed the battle system, it was easy to master.

Alan Wake is set up episodically. There are 5 episodes, and when an episode ends, a music track is played. When the next episode appears it has a "Previously on Alan Wake". It's a nice way to break up the game, if you are like me and couldn't only play an episode a night for the first couple night, it was a nice way to catch up without forgetting everything. The music tracks are pretty damn good too, featured all sorts of people including a long time favorite Poe, and the credits were none other than my hero David Bowie.

The environments were phenomenal. The mountains were gorgeous, the weather was beautiful, the whole scenery was unmistakably pacific northwest inspired. I'm not just saying that because I live here :). My boyfriend, who grew up in a similar area, said he felt at home when he saw it, so it wasn't really scary to him.

-Alan Wake himself is a very conflicted character as presented in the game. He obviously loves his wife, but he has some very serious flaws. He's a writer that was successful and then couldn't write for years. There is a frustration, and a hatred in him that is seen throughout the game.
-Sarah, his wife is a lovely girl, who has a phobia of the dark. Fitting for the story. She loves her husband and is very patient with him, but unfortunately we don't see a whole lot of her relationship. This game is about Alan Wake, not so much his wife.
-Barry is Alan's manager. At first he was annoying, but that annoyance later became his charm. He's not charming, but he is determined. And he makes a surprisingly refreshing experience.

However, as much as I enjoyed this game, somethings were a bit annoying:

-I'm a tester for game, so when I get invested in a game and find a bug, it pulls me out. The most annoying bug I found was after a random conversation with someone, the subtitle of what I said would not go off screen. Other than that, mostly game glitches, nothing game breaking like memory loss or hard locks.

-There is no point in hoarding ammo, flares, or any item like that because you loose your stuff ALL THE TIME. Although it does make it a bit more realistic (i.e. falling out of a helicopter you won't be holding on to your pockets, but still, once, I get it, like 6 times though, really?

-You cannot get all the manuscripts in the Normal setting. I always progress up from Normal to Nightmare when games allow it. The first time through is just to help prepare for what to expect, the second and third, that's for collecting everything. But those manuscripts help clarify the story. The FBI agent Nightengale, I'm still not entirely sure what his purpose is. If you miss just one manuscript, you're missing bits of the story. And there are quite a few that can only be found in Nightmare mode.

Besides these things, I actually really enjoyed this game. It was worth the amount of the Limited Edition (and the stress of trying to find it). It came with a soundtrack and a special features disc as well as a book. I highly recommend this game, it's definitely worth playing through once.

FFXI vs WoW vs Aion

I like MMO's, but only casually. I can't say that I hate them because they have allowed me to meet some amazing people that have turned into wonderful friends that I adore. However, there are so many MMO's out there that it's kind of difficult to justify playing more than one. In my life, I have seriously played 3. I use the word 'seriously' as the attitude of play. I'm going to compare them (I know, big no no, all MMO's are different and should be judged differently and blah..blah..blah)

FFXI
This one is first. Not only because it was my first, but because I hold it most dear to my heart.

FFXI required patience. FFXI required finding a Linkshell that you fit in well with. This is very much a community driven game. Sure you could do things by yourself, but it was built for you to do it with others. This game forces you out of your comfort zone and demands you work well with others, because if you don't you won't make it that far.

The 6 years I off and on played this game were very great. The people I met are all top notch and still are now some of my favorite people. (Hiredhelp, this is to you.)Their existence makes mine happy. It is rare in life I think, that you meet people that affect you that way.

The Job classes were interesting, so many different options and you only needed one character to play them all. This was something that was very appealing to me, I mean I could be a Samurai, Dancer, Ninja, White Mage, Black Mage, Scholar, etc. So many choices!

The story is by far one of the most engaging and emotional experiences you can have in an MMO. Characters lived and characters died, you explored with them and fought with them. I have never played a more interesting story. And that story helped to make the community strong. We ALL wanted to know the story.

Graphically I loved the game. It had a very 'realistic' style and color palette. I played that game and felt like "you know, maybe this place does exist somewhere". I mean sure the graphics were severely limited by the PS2 support, but even so, Square Enix knows what they're doing when it comes to that.

The music was gorgeous in some places and enjoyable in others. I liked listening to the background music, I rarely muted my TV.

Some downfalls were initially the game was not geared for solo play, and if your friends all quit playing, it left you little reason to want to stay. Since it is so much a community game, once the community is gone...it just doesn't feel the same.

It's not easy to make gil in FFXI. Things cost millions and at most quests give maybe 10k? Drops from mobs sell for nothing, and things are super camped.

Not worth $15 a month at this point. At least not anymore. Game sales go down over time, the same should apply to MMO subscriptions.

World of Warcraft
This is the most successful MMO in history. We could argue for decades whether or not it's deserving, but you cannot deny that this game helped fuel the existence of MMO's.

WoW is ridiculously easy. I'm surprised they don't just give you a bot for the first part of your adventures there. But since the game is so easy, it's easy to start, get high level and do what MMOers do best: Raid, Kill, Loot, and rinse and repeat.

There are some interesting story lines, and there are almost TOO many quests. There is always so much to do and the world is incredibly expansive. This also explains the simple art and design level.

Community wise I can't say I enjoy it too much. I know some of the friends I love and adore in FFXI play WoW now but they are a small percentage of the amount of douchebaggary I have experienced in WoW. Granted I haven't played a whole lot of it. My highest was a level 60. But it was enough for me to not really get interested.

It is super easy to make money in WoW, you just need lots of it for things like mounts and whatnot. Not really an issue though, because like I said, it's super easy to make money.

WoW has some great gameplay elements though. They work with the community to make programs that they can use. Essentially companies don't like 3rd party programs because they are mostly used for hacking and what not, but Blizzard sees what's used and try to make it for their players. This. Is. Wonderful. This is the kind of relationship you want as a player with the developers. You know they listen and this is so important.

However I truly don't feel the game is worth $15 a month. It's almost a rip off for essentially how easy the game is.. and especially for how old it is. FFXI suffers the same thing, when you have established servers, and have lost players over time, the price should go down. Blizzard for one could deal with a price cut.

Aion
This is the most recent MMO that I have dedicated time to. There are a lot of good things about it but there are equal amount of bad things.

The graphics are gorgeous and I have never had so much fun creating and falling in love with my character.

The music is nice in some places and annoying in others but there are a lot of details put into it. Small things like the body adjusting postion if it's standing on a hill, certain NPC's have cool story lines. There is a daeva of music in Pandemonium who sings this really gorgeous song, and you can hear it (and read the lyrics). There are a lot of little things that I enjoy.

It's not too hard to make money, but the boss drops are really stupid. We did an instance about 7 times and saw 1 blue item drop. That is just awful. You need more of a reason than a 1 in 7 chance to see a blue item and then have a 30% possibility that you could even use it.

The community for the most part have been enjoyable, the gameplay is inventive and fun (Who knew how much I loved gliding?) The concept behind the Abyss PvP and flight system is wonderful, however, the game is very broken.

There is so much potential here, but there is a seriously lack of communication from the dev team. They post videos (See Aion Vision Trailer) of what they WANT for the game, plan a huge graphics overhaul but they can't even fix a majority of their known issues. They communicate primarily through things like Twitter, but only things like "Hey check out the new Fan Art!".

The PvP is fun, but the way it's set up is wonderful for greifers, awful for the rest of us. Almost everywhere is a PvP zone which means if you're leveling in a lvl 20 area, you WILL get ganked by a lvl 50, at least 7 times before you /ragequit.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Overall my favorite is FFXI. Maybe it's because it was my first, but that game had so much going for it, and so many options, and the story was so amazing that I will always compare my experiences with that one.

They all have their plus and minus'. Unfortunately Aion and WoW are geared to play casually, and FFXI just isn't. And what it comes down to, is that I'm a casual MMO player.

Bayonetta, a girl after my heart

I freaking love this game.

I have a thing for incredibly over-the-top violence. And this game was made for me and people like me.

The story is pretty interesting and ties really well with all the designs of the game. The different enemies and their 'Angelic' stature have all been interesting battles, no two enemy types are really the same.

The "Kinship" as it were was a fun little encounter, the Golem is amazingly annoying for me, and being able to pick up their weapons and use them is awesome.

I even love the pole dance move.

Needless to say, if you don't have this, you need this game.

The Integrity of a Porn Star

This article seems to have offended a lot of people, men and women alike. Some people are offended by the fact that it's generic "How to Get a Girl" stuff and some people are upset that it's written by a Porn Star. Raven Alexis is getting around as a Porn Star that games. At first her presence was accepted, "Oh awesome she loves games AND sex!" her being around was another affirmation for some that gamer women can indeed be attractive.

But now that she submitted this article, the clouds have darken and people who once praised her presence, now scoff on what she is: A Porn Star.

Several commenters in fact outed the fact that her dating advice is somehow null and void because she's a porn star. I fail to see the logistics of that. Porn is her job, I'm happy for her that she's doing something that she likes. A lot of people can't say that they do that. Because I test games as a career does that mean I shouldn't have an opinion on video games?

Just because she gets paid to have sex has no bearing on her ability to give advice, in fact most of the advice she gives is sound, for example:

"5) There is one more option that I've left until last. This is only for the true risk takers—the champions of their own destiny. Are you sitting down? Because here it is: You actually go over and tell her what's on your mind. Tell her that you noticed her and that you think she's intriguing, or interesting, or just plain hot. Let her know that you want to chat with her, or just play with her (notice my pun). Yes, guys, this strategy actually works. Letting a girl know that you're interested, and the fact that you had the balls to actually say it, will make you highly exciting and sexy to her. Please note that the difference between this and a pickup line is honesty. Once you've opened the airways of communication, maybe then you can make her giggle with the Tauren line."

This is sage advice. Most women I know don't like to beat around the bush, would rather the person come right out and be honest.

When I read that I don't care that she's a porn star, I don't care that she kind of followed some stereotypical man reactions to women gaming, she has a right to an opinion about anything as anyone, what her profession is doesn't matter.

The Gamers of the world are becoming far too elite. I myself have fallen into this, we have placed ourselves on some sort of pedestal that because we play games and games have become so popular that we must validate our existence by proving we're more a gamer than anyone else because we are 'normal' or because 'we were there before it was cool'.

The genre is growing, people who were afraid to say that they played games are now stepping outside and feeling more comfortable as the world becomes more tolerant. And how have begun greeting these newfound 'gamers'? By telling them that they're posers, that they don't know anything and by judging them simply on the basis that they aren't in the 'now'.

Go ahead Raven Alexis, you keep playing games, you keep writing articles and you keep doing porn. It is your choice and you should never let people's close minded views stop you from doing that.

Raving Rabbids <3

I'm a huge fan of Raving Rabbids, if you are too, check out this site frequently!

From Russia with BANHAMMER

As reported HERE and HERE and many other places, Russia a bit miffed at the "No Russian" mission in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The initial response by a lot of people is, "Oh big deal it's just a game, get over it Russia."

Now, I'm going to get some flak for this but I don't really blame Russia. Entertainment has some obsession with Russian villains. Be it a Bond film, a video game, or even just a novel, for some reason we love to make Russians the bad guys. Maybe it's because of things like the Cold War, or where they live, or those wonderful stories on the Russian Mafia, but one way or the other, we like them as our enemies.

Currently Vladimir Putin seems very concerned with Russia's overall look to other countries. By headlining things like saving the Siberian Tigers, and trying to increase ties to America, something like MW2 can be a bit insulting.

Granted, *Spoiler Alert*, the real bad guy isn't necessarily Russia in the game *End Spoiler*. But let's look at all the other concerns with images of "War Torn America" and how THAT was an issue no that long ago. We can sit there and say, "I can't believe people would show us that way." It's no different from the Russians who are probably really tired of being portrayed that way.

To drive the nail in, as gamers aren't we tired of being portrayed as mindless, gun toting lunatics that will kill anyone because GTA taught us to? Aren't we tired of being blamed for stupid things that happen, like when someone shoots someone over something they said on Xbox LIVE? It's thinking like this that makes me understand Russia's plight. We're so quick to say "QQ MOAR PLS" but really how much is too much?

Bayonetta: Body of Lies

There has been a lot of talk about Bayonetta and her physical form. I got to play this game at PAX this year and it's a really fun game! And so what that it's not 100% accurate to human form. She isn't human. What bugs me the most is how much this bothers people. I think she's awesome, she's incredibly unique. The artist designs are his and they work with the story. The game itself is really fun, so whats the issue?

She's not real. Nothing fascinates humanity more than destruction. Argue that with me all you want, you're focused on it one way or the other.

The problem I have with the reaction to Modern Warfare 2 is the fact that, media our entire life has gone about depicting destruction everywhere. Artists do it all the time, movies do it all the time (Day After Tomorrow/2012 anyone?) and why is it so wrong for video games to do it as well? Because it's interactive? Are you playing the game Christian Science Monitor? No? Well then shut it.

Would they be complaining if this were Russia? London? Mexico? No. Is it because those countries weren't targets for terrorist attacks on September 11th? Get over yourself. 9/11 happened, it was awful, I understand people are still affected by it, however, if you can't bring yourself to get past it you will always relive it. Why should the rest of us suffer because some people can't accept that it HAS happened and you cannot change. There is no reason America should have special treatment in the 'do not represent our country as destroyed'. Because really, what makes us so special? Why are we allowed to show any other country as any kind of demolished, but when it comes to us it's so in appropriate.

I want to make clear that I in no way disregard 9/11. It was a tragedy. It WAS tragic. The effect it left is STILL tragic because everyone wants to remind everyone all the time of how tragic it was. But you know what? How can we grow if we can't let go. Media like this just adds to the 'pity us because someone attacked us' bit.

When you fall down, you get right back up, you don't lay there complaining about how it's so unfair you fell down.

WET

When I mention that this is the current game I'm involved with I get a lot of weird faces.

"Oh Em Gee I am so excited to go home and play WET tonight!" (insert the awkward reaction). In all honesty though it wouldn't even make sense in the perverted thoughtwave. I didn't say I was going home and getting wet with pleasure, I said I'm playing WET, insinuating that it's on object.

I digress... The best way for me to describe WET is: Like a Quentin Tarantino movie (soundtrack, style, etc) without the overly polished-for-the-sake-of-being-obvious-and-funny-and-ironic dialogue.

The common complaints I'm hearing are "it's boring, repetitious" I could see how that would pose a problem, however I am a hack and slash whore and this game through popular beliefs falls into that category.

There are a few aspects to love:

1. Slow mo gameplay. I love this because it varies, slide on the ground, jump in the air, run along buildings all while shooting guys in the head. I never tire of this.

2. Rage Mode. You go fucking nuts and just kill everyone.

3. Weird little 1940's interludes. They're random and just entertaining.

4. Eliza Dushku is the voice of Rubi.

5. On the Website Bethesda is offering free tracks from the game. Now that is pretty wicked.

Overall I love the game. I definitely suggest checking it out.

What I look forward to next?

-Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

-Dragon Age: Origins

-Borderlands

I don't have a dick.

So why would i want to play as one every time there is an open world game?

See I love open world games, but I hate the fact that 90% of open world games have male leads. I'm not sexist, I don't mind playing guys in games, but for the love of God I believe I have the right to have an option.

This isn't a guy only demographic, in fact it never really was. The majority has died down and it's a pretty even playing field so why? Why do I have to have bad hair and wear a leather jacket with jeans in every fucking game?

Some people argue, "Well it's the story line." Fuck your story line, most of those games have crappy, underdeveloped stories anyway.

Another rant while I'm at it, stop making MMO's. Just stop. Why don't you focus more on Open World Co-Op games eh? That would be fantastic! I know my boyfriend and I would be all over that.

And Final Fantasy 14? I'm not excited so don't even ask. I know I played FFXI for a good 6 years, but everything I see about FFXIV looks exactly like fucking XI. New jobs, blah blah blah.
Two Words: SAME RACES. But for the mean time I will be downloading Atlus' Droplitz on my 360, playing some Halo 2, and possibly Fallout 3 and/or Sacred 2.

I have a lot to catch up on.

Also, while I'm here, I'm ecstatic about Marvel vs Capcom 2 coming to XBLA, but I am not excited about it lacking everything that made the PS2 and Dreamcast versions fun, and that was the time it took to unlock all the extra characters and the art.

Anyway, more later.

I do not use my mic.

I play games.

I am a girl.

I have Xbox LIVE and play online frequently with many titles.

I do not use my headset outside of personal parties with people I know.

Why?

Because I understand that not everyone who plays on LIVE is on the same maturity level as myself, because I know people on LIVE don't all believe in the same things I believe in, have the same interests, understand the difference between me being a bitch and me joking around. Because I understand that harassment does hurt no matter how much I wish it did not.

Some women go on and goad them menfolk, some girls go on in a feeble attempt to get attention. When they are met with "go back to the kitchen and make me a sandwich!" they are often insulted and offended.

I know these are possibilities, so to the large percentage out there that I have played with, or people who know me and wonder why I don't speak, that is why.

I don't have a problem with it so much, but sometimes it makes gaming a bit difficult. In games like Left 4 Dead when you're playing in that game, communication is a huge key in victory. Communication is used when alerting players of strategy, so being afraid to speak out of fear of starting a fire that cannot be put out is bothersome. I guess the easy way to fix that is to play with all friends! That isn't always as easy as it sounds.

The friends I do play with, I understand their banter. "God that sucked, you should focus on making pies!" But the underlying sexism involved with strangers is much more intimidating, especially since there isn't much that you can do about it. Sure you can report them, but does that do justice to the belittling you just faced? Does that actually decrease the rage and the wanting to find them and punch them in the balls? Not really.

There is no solution to this problem. People are people and they won't change. Because really, that is my real genre of choice. But I was disappointed to see games such as Ninja Gaiden and Devil May Cry on those lists.

Don't get me wrong, those are great games, but I don't consider them Hack 'n Slash. Here is why: They are linear. They have a story to follow, it's ABOUT something, you are progressing towards something. There are puzzles, and boss battles.

I consider hack 'n slash like dynasty warriors, or devil kings. There is a story there but it's not nearly as important as killing everyone. Unlocking people and mounts, unlocking costumes, unlocking cutscenes. They are repetitive and if you've played one you've played them all, but the name of the genre screams "repetition!" hack and slash, rinse and repeat!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://crazy-like-a-popsicle.blogspot.com/2009/03/hack-n-slash.html' title='Hack n' Ignorance is not bliss in the media. In college I gave a speech about Video Games being responsible for Violence. Although I firmly believe this is not the case, I read and reported from all angles of the situation. If their were findings supporting the theory I included them, because although I didn't believe it, some people did, therefore, to give a fair account of the situation I looked at it from all angles.

So what brought this up was the recent bill that passed in Utah. In particular a lot of what was said was grossly uneducated and what's worse is that it passed upon what is now very apparent, uneducated people.

I appreciate this blogs attempt to straighten out Gayle Ruzicka, but anyone who is allied with Mr. Jack Thompson can not be made to understand. I only pray that people begin to fully understand that which they try to oppress.

Oh and one more thing...

Dear people who bitch about exclusive DLC for big titles:

You bore me. Seriously though, you bought your systems, and are often told before expansions come out that they will be exclusive to one system. I want Disgaea 3 and was upset that it was a PS3 only game, however, do I yell at the publisher? Do I damn NIS for releasing it for PS3 and not any other system? No! I figure one of these days I'll get to play it either by buying a PS3, or it will probably be released on PS2.

Fallout 3 having exclusive DLC for 360 has been beneficial to me I will admit. But if PS3 got it, would I play Fallout 3 any less? Probably not. I mean hell, I've played my PS2 for years with games that came out on both systems and never bitched about not having DLC, why? Because the game is fine on its own I didn't need DLC, and I didn't buy the game for that DLC.

I also understand the technical requirements for creating things on all systems and I gotta say, there is a difference.

There is all the CONTRACTS involved with BUYING exclusive content so really, let it go! I say if you knew about it and chose a different route you only have your self to blame.

If you have a problem with exclusive than offer more money.

It sucks but bitching won't change contracts, so stop bitching, it's old, it's whiney and it's done.

Pen 15

Recently there has been a bunch of huffguff over the full frontal male nudity in GTA IV's DLC "Lost and the Damned". Now personally I don't care if their is nudity in a video game as long as it has the appropriate age rating, but seriously, I would rather see boobies or the angry vag (minus bush) before penis.

In fact, I don't understand why women complain at all? Video game characters that are female generally have such unrealistic bodies, that I don't consider it offensive, I consider it art. And most of the time it's fun to make fun of. It seems to me that the people who complain have no reason to. Is it their body being distributed? Is it their childrens or their friends? If they don't play video games and never do, why is it an issue?

And when a game is rated "M" for "Mature" should your children be seeing it anyway?

I've said this before but their gonna see boobs, probably way before you want them too.

Porn + Internet = Free Porn!

So what if you have naked women in games. So what if their are 'hentai' games. You're not playing them, and if you have the lines of communication open with your kids you'll know whether or not they do.

Brings me to the Rapelay game. It would have been more entertaining if people questioned how the upset about the game became so explosive in the media. Who discovered the game was banned on Amazon first? My money goes on the people so upset that it 'exists'. And seriously, Americans cannot be held responsible for a japanese made game.

But this America after all, and we pride ourselves on making big deals out of everything that isn't important.

QA: The underrated tool.

Maybe I am biased, since I am in QA for video games. When I think gaming soundtrack I think of the men and women who dedicated their time to creating unique and individual songs for their games. Blood, sweat, tears, time away from their families and loved ones in order to create something made FOR the game. Guitar Hero, and Rock Band, as fun as those games are, are only unique in gameplay (arguable) but the music is known and was not initially created for the game. (I am aware that the songs have to be adjusted and coded specifically in order to be used for the game, but I hope that you know what I mean.)

That aside check out THIS wonderful conversation about Left 4 Dead.

There has been a lot of speculation about Ender in Exile. I have read complaints that Orson Scott Card has become sermonistic in his writings and overtime the quality of his written word had deteriorated over time.

I however, would have to disagree. Although I did note some tendencies in this book, a good example is how often 'marriage' and 'children' are brought up as the appropriate way for one to spend their life was a little aggravating, it none the less fit with the story.

Here we have Andrew Wiggin, called Ender. He born into a time where people were only allowed to have two children, and all children born are monitored to see if they will be of use to the military. However, Ender was a third. He was a third child in the family, the government found extreme potential in his brother and sister, but they needed a good mix of both of them, so they issued the Wiggins to have another child.

This caused Ender to be an outcast. Throw in his incredible intelligence and wit and it's already much worse. So Ender goes to battle school with thousands of other children just like him.

The problem is no one is 'just like' Ender, and he was picked with the sole purpose of saving the world from the Formic invasion. The best way to do this is to isolate him so that he realizes that when he needs help there will be no one to save him. However the irony in this is that although no one would save him, he still needed others to complete victory.

Including Bean. If we were to compare Bean and Ender the best way to say it is that Bean is a doer and Ender is a thinker. Bean was smarter then Ender in the sense that he could visualize everything where as Ender can analyze everyone and everything to full understand how they work. Both brilliant and together were a very deadly combination.

Back to the thought at hand, Ender was denied a childhood, he lived alone inside himself for a very long time trying to adjust to what he had done and how his life was and never would be normal. The idea of pressing the thought of marriage and children worked well for the story because it specifically is all the things Ender never got to really enjoy.

You could cater it back to the fact that Orson Scott Card is a mormon, or you could see it in the perspective of the story and characters.

I love Ender in Exile, and thought it was a wonderful book that brought me back into the story.

oh..my..

Oh baby.

gamegasm.

http://kotaku.com/5066646/alan-wake-returns-in-brand-new-cinematic-trailer

I have been waiting for this game for years. I did drink though, that was fun, good times yo!

ZOMG

Did you see this shit? I LOVE YOU ATLUS!

You better believe I bought that as soon as I saw it.

Cooooome on December!

Wa-pish!

If you haven't heard of APB I suggest you check it out. Not only is the concept art delicious, but it seems like a really awesome game. I won't go into detail because I want the public to discover them.

Also, did you hear about the Rock Band 2 glitch? Pretty fucked up if you ask me, there is no way in hell I want all my data for Squids Kill Squirrels gone, I'm damn proud of my work!

In other news, let me just say that the Nintendo DSi leaves me unimpressed. When is the Nintendo DS Cellphone coming out? Because that's what it really looks like it's going to end up being. Camera, yea, that's a cool idea, or it just makes it appeal to those 14 year old girls who don't really know what video games are but are going to call themselves gamers because they have a DSCamera, I mean DSi. No GBA slot is fucked up too, part of the reason I enjoy the DS is the fact that I can play old GBA games on it. In the sense of making money though, it's good for Nintendo. They keep going further and further into the "Casual Gaming Market" which isn't bad for them, but, the rest of us who enjoy the good old school version of gaming are kind of left out in the rain.

It's something Nintendo and Sony have in common. Although, Sony is starting to come back up. Doesn't mean I'll like them any more, I'm still hurt by their lack of consideration for the poor gamer who doesn't give a fuck about a blu ray player. My PS2? Still overused console I own, however, after being informed that blazblue is PS3 exclusive...I might have to fucking get one.

I mean eventually I will need one anyway for other exclusive titles like FFXIII: Versus, and then there is always Disgaea 3.

I'm making good progress in Silent Hill: Homecoming. I have to beat it damnit! This will be the first one I've finished entirely by myself, that's not to say I haven't tried coercing people into finishing it for me. So this seemed like a great idea. And so far I've enjoyed them both! It's a fun party game, assuming people take turns, otherwise people get bored really fast.

Like I said, I just like to sing :P

Dynasty Warriors 6: I'm a huuuuge hack and slash fan so I'm biased but I really like what they've done with the 6th one. The addition of ladder climbing, swimming, and various other things have made the game more fun and exciting. Although my favorite character at the time (Xing Cai) is not in it, I've started liking other characters.

Warriors Orochi 2: Fuck yes. Just like the first one but Nu Wa is hott. 'nuff said.

Silent Hill: Homecoming: Ok, so I've never been able to finish a game by myself, I scare easily, but since I know someone who worked on this game I feel it necessary to try. So far it's good, and since I scare easy I can't really be a judge of HOW scary it is, but I haven't locked myself in a closet crying my eyes out so we're good.

Today's blog is about music.

I adore music, it's not just something to listen to for me it's a reason to live. When I hear music, I feel it. I exist with it and it stirs something in me. It's as if I'm nothing but sound in it's vast ocean. Being submersed in that is just, an amazing feeling.

Everlong by Foo Fighters is my favorite song, followed closely by Shine, My Star by Origa. Both songs I just get lost in. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, however, I have dated nerds, nice nerds none the less. Let me just say, I don't want to date that type again. The problem with nerds, and I sometimes have this problem as well, is that we get completely indulged in some of our nerdy things, be it someones WoW or FFXI, be it Conventions, forums, whatever that it is.

But then, that makes the other person, very lonely, and I'm tired of being lonely.

So I've opened up the door to the idea of dating people I might not have dated for reasons unknown. For example people who intimidate me in ways I can't really explain. What it boils down to, I guess, is that I'm just looking for someone to wow me.

I'm kind of demanding and bossy, and it would be nice for one to take charge and put me in my place, (the kitchen hahahahahaha).

I dno, I just want to be saved I guess.

And now...

I applaud all of those who have played WoW for an extensive amount of time and have actually stopped. And by stopped I mean, never went back.

That aside, Eternal Poison, also known as Poison Pink in Japan, is coming out in November and I couldn't be more excited. Also, as an Atlus fangirl, you can imagine I creamed a bit when they announced those delicious packages. SE could really learn a thing or two from Atlus. Sure, Atlus is more of a distributor than a creator, but they reward people for buying their games by giving them awesome things when people preorder! I think that's awesome!

In other news, Jack Thompson has been disbarred, but I don't really think this is the end for him. I predict he will do something outrageous and will be forever imprinted in the history of the world.

I had to register to vote so I could attend a friends party. For all those who don't know, PAX is the Penny Arcade Expo. It's basically the new E3 in the sense that it's a public showcase for upcoming games.

PAX showcased all sorts of things: Fallout 3, Dead Space, Gears of War 2, MK vs DC, and my personal favorite Project Origin.

The atmosphere was pretty cool. Smelly at times though. And thus I make this announcment:

People who play video games, that doesn't mean you cannot wear deoderant. Just because you spend all your time away from humans doesn't mean you can revoke all needs for personal hygiene.

The sad thing is, that is not just a stereotype it is a fact! Degree, Secret, why aren't you milking these events? We would all THANK YOU.

Anyway, Project Origin looks amazing, the seeing the demo was pretty cool, I definately suggest everyone keep an eye out for that game.

Gears of War 2, looked pretty badass, I might have to play the first one.

MK vs DC has a lot to offer as a game, but I still don't like Midways lack of understand of the female form:

Sonya Blade=Man.

Kitana has a Penis.

Something is wrong with Catwomans legs.

Wonder Woman looks like hooker with fake breasts.

Hmm..

Quite a lot has happened in the past few weeks!

First off, Fox suing Warner Bros over the Watchmen movie. Fair enough that they have the rights to Watchmen, but don't cry a river beause WB made it everything you couldn't.

Bayonetta looks to be like an amazing game and I'm very excited about it, as should any other fan of Action games. Sure, at first glance the premise of a woman with deadly hair seems kind of crazy, but if you're like me, you might wet yourself after seeing the teaser:

An interesting side note, as found in EGM (Electronic Gaming Monthly) "The names of Bayonetta's guns are Parley, Sage, Rosemary, and Thyme. Together, they're known as Scarborough Fair. Director Hideki Kamiya is a fan of '60s folk rockers Simon & Garfunkel, who made the traditional English ballad famous."

For other movie news, Harry Potter has been pushed back to July 2009. Alan Horn, a rep from WB, issued an apology. But unfortunately, that fans are still displeased with the reasoning. Some how, "Just think! the next movie which is still being released in 2010 won't feel so far away after seeing this one in 2009!" Sure I guess? Except that instead of waiting 1.5 years for that one, I have to wait 1.7 years for THIS one.

In case you missed this gem as well, Atlus and Joystiq are having a Persona 4 contest with really simple rules, check it out here. As much as I don't want anyone to win but me, I still feel that I should alert other Persona fans of it's existance.

Oh, speaking of Atlus, it IS Poison Pink, or Eternal Poison as it will be called, will be released here. This is wonderful news, just wonderful.

And back to movie news. WB is picking up the slack for DC movies in the wake of Marvels fantastic plans for the future. With at least four superhero movies coming out from the DC franchise, one of which is the 3rd Batman movie. Read about the others here.

Random fact: I love the Little Red Riding hood story, and am excited for THIS game.

Anyway I'll update more later.

Possible Future?

If you subscribe to Atlus' emails, you should have seen the 'teaser' about a game to be released. Always tossing things into the mix that you may either be not prepared for, or things that aren't much at all. When life is boring you want something exciting, when it gets exciting, suddenly it's too much.

My life isn't dreadfully exciting, I mean I'm gamer right? I put notices in my EnV telling me when games are released. Obviously I have time on my hands. But, I read enough comics, see enough movies, read enough stories that I'll probably always feel like I could be doing more, that there will always be something missing.

It can't really be helped, it's just a part of the journey, but if we only have one, that we know of, shouldn't we just do whatever makes us happy? And if so, why is it that oftentimes, that decision of choosing your happiness over something else, usually means someone will get hurt.

It's a tricky thing. I would give my life, in a minute, to protect my friends from anything and everything. Friends, family, anyone that's in trouble, I want to help them, even if it means sacrificing something that I have or need. That's just the kind of person I am, but, every so often I reach my limit of happiness, and I can no longer take care of anyone else, and I need a break. It's those points that I regret the most, because when I choose myself, I am no longer helping everyone else. When I choose my happiness I have to let someone go.

It makes me feel selfish, but at the same time, sometimes you HAVE to be selfish. I certainly don't have the funds, or the resources to do all the things I want to do to help the people I love, and there comes a time where I have to take care of myself. Because how do I have the right to help anyone, if I can't help myself?

That being said, why is it so hard to put your foot forward and just go. My heavy heart is an anchor holding me in place. It's really not complicated, but I put my heart with everyone I meet. Even if it's just a little while. I give everyone the benefit of the doubt, and I look forward to friendships with much hope and excitement of things to come. But then, when it crosses that boundary into relationships, that's when they throw the friendship away. The very foundation that created the relationship is now gone. "I can't be your friend anymore". I never quite understood that.

You think I'm an emotionless robot, but you don't realize how fragile and devastated I am to have to make the decisions I make. I may seem cruel to everyone looking outside in, but I will sacrifice myself in order to let you hate me, if that's what it takes for you to move on.

And so this becomes the words I'll never say. And I will stand stalwart, because you do what has to be done.

"The hardest thing in this world, is to live in it."

Oooh how I love competition...

If you are not aware there is a game coming entitled Mortal Kombat vs DC. This game was actually really awesome until they confirmed, with good reason, that the DC characters will NOT be having fatalities. I can see why, but at the same time, it would have been awesome. There are, however, some other cool features.

But that is not what this is about, however long I could go on about it. This is about the revival of Marvel vs. Capcom. Oh yes, oh yes, oh yes! As confirmed in the last 11 words on this page.

I freaking love Marvel vs. Capcom, and with this news may play some tonight! I was contemplating the same thing the other day.

If you are too lazy to click the link, it is about movie ratings, specifically The Dark Knight movie, in comparison to video games like Condemned.

Although I loved The Dark Knight, I was really disappointed to see them advertising it children via toys and what not. Mostly because this isn't your typical Batman. This isn't the same crappy Batman they see on their Saturday mornings with the Rastafarian Joker. This is a darker, harsher, more serious Gotham and Batman than what we got to see when we were growing up.

Times change I suppose.
<div italic;">animated series is being transformed into a live action movie. If Dragon Ball is any indication of the level of quality we'll be seeing, I am not prepared for the Cowboy Bebop adaptation.

It's not that it's a bad idea, in fact, Cowboy Bebop has a wonderful story line. It's just, usually, Hollywood picks up something that has fans, and they make a movie out of it. They don't take the time to appreciate why the fans like it, and in the end, all we get is a crap movie that creates new fans that "only like the movie".

It's happened.

In some cases, they do what they can, and it turns out pretty good. I won't lie, I enjoyed the Silent Hill movie. The story was lost a little but, I appreciated the fact that the development team had to play the game, in order to really see what the game visually had to offer, and I loved the soundtrack, because I listen to all the Silent Hill soundtracks all the time.

I'm very creepy like that.

Speaking of movies, comic book movies are coming out the wazoo. In some cases this is very exciting, I personally enjoyed The Dark Knight, Iron Man, and Hellboy 2, to name a few. However, there will always be a bitter taste left in my mouth after the atrocious adaptation of X-Men to the live action screen. I'm hoping Ryan Reynolds can curve my opinion as his role of Deadpool. I'm hoping his wacky personality fits well with Deadpool's grasp of reality. The man playing Gambit isn't a bad casting call either. Speaking of X-Men! Magik returns in December for the "Inferno II" storyline. I'm interested to see where this goes since I like Colossus, not a fan of Kitty Pride though. You KNOW they'll be involved.

Wolverine and the X-Men is another animated series coming soon as well, and too be honest, I was a little skeptical at first. But after seeing this trailer, I have decided I will watch this...Oh yes:

Jack Thompson talks to Jace Hall

Though, beginning with a lie is never the most effective way to start off a relationship, I feel it's better in the end this way.

I'll start off with informing you that yes, I am a girl, and yes, I play video games. I find them boring and repetitive and only really like the aspect of creating my own character, other than that the moment I have to plan my life around a MMO, is the moment I no longer feel like playing. I have enough chores in my life, don't need to make gaming one of them.

Being a girl, I will also blog about random things that come to mind about life and relationships.

To clarify, this blog will consist of me posting fun tidbits of information I find and or like, screaming like a fangirl over Atlus, KOEI, or other announcements, or just throwing out my opinion about things going on in the Game Industry.

So that is what this will be. You are more then welcome to enjoy this blogging process with me!

Rules:

Don't ask me about what I do.

Don't ask me about who I am.

Nothing personal, just not interested :)
